Range Rover Velar Review

If you are considering buying one of our used Range Rover Velar cars, read on to find out more…

The Range Rover Velar is without doubt one of the best-looking cars on sale today. It’s by no means a one trick pony though, it can also keep up with family life and rock crawl with the big boys too!

It’s hard to define who the Velar’s rivals are, in size it sits somewhere between the X4 and X6 from BMW and between the GLC Coupe and GLE Coupe from Mercedes-Benz. The design is slim, smooth and elegant and while it may lack Land Rover’s typical rugged design, it more than lives up to their go anywhere beliefs.

The cabin is a further design revelation, the centre console is almost fully digitalised with two screens used for the infotainment system, sat nav and drive modes. The two physical rotary dials can be programmed to control a number of things, from the air con temperature to heated-seat strength. Carrying on its personalisation, the steering wheel also has buttons that can be repurposed for different tasks.

The Range Rover Velar engine range is broad, with a 2.0-litre diesel in 180bhp and 240bhp outputs, and a 2.0-litre petrol in 250 and 300. They’re all from JLR’s Ingenium family. Since they’re all AWD and automatic and all weigh just over 1,800kg, the performance steps between them are roughly what you’d expect: between six and nine seconds for 0-62mph. The rear badging is clear to understand too, P or D represent the fuel types and the number following is the power output.

Considering the Range Rover Velar car puts so much effort into its style, it still remains a useful car. Five adults can happily occupy the cabin with room for luggage in the rear, it doesn’t feel too big to navigate tight city streets and the off-road capabilities on offer are far beyond anything a regular driver would ask of it.
