SEAT Begins Integrating Amazon Alexa in Leon and Ateca Models
Amazon Alexa has taken the UK by storm recently, with the voice-controlled personal assistant software becoming a top seller for the e-commerce giant.
SEAT struck up a deal with Amazon earlier this year to get the innovative technology in their Leon and Ateca models, and now, the Spanish manufacturer has actually begun rolling out cars equipped with Alexa.
This is exciting news for SEAT fans, but be aware that you will need an android smartphone to access the new feature, as it is accessed through the android version of the SEAT Media Control smartphone app. This can be downloaded through the Android Playstore.
Alexa’s automotive division say they are “excited to incorporate Alexa in its vehicles” and they express the importance of developing technology with SEAT. With just a tap of the steering wheel, the driver can ask Alexa anything, from requesting music to asking about the weather. You can even control things at home from your car.
Fellow makes in the VW Group are also expected to announce the integration of Amazon’s intelligent technology along with a number of the brand’s competitors, as manufacturers are becoming more attracted to the Alexa voice recognition system rather than Apple’s Siri version. Current automotive voice recognition systems are not as advanced as Amazon’s personal assistant.
It is likely that we will see rapid developments in the selection of in-car features including voice recognition, and Alexa will be a big part of that. SEAT believe that this step towards the future will allow drivers to make the most of their time in the car.
Motorists will no longer need to be separated from smart devices when they are on the roads, as their artificial personal assistant will be able to keep them company and help them manage their busy lives.
