Volkswagen On a Mission to Find the UK’s Best Driving Roads
Volkswagen is partnering up with navigation software Waze to find the best roads to drive on in Britain in a campaign called ‘GTI Superdrives’.
The aim of this campaign is to promote the manufacturer’s hugely popular GTI range, including the legendary Volkswagen Golf GTI, the new Polo GTI and the Up! GTI, which are made to deliver an exceptional driving experience.
The aim is to find the country’s top 75 driving roads, with the help of Waze, an advanced navigation app with around 200 million users. The software will analyse roads to see if they are fit for the shortlist. They must be scenic, but close to points of interest, have low volumes of traffic and enough corners to make things interesting.
The top roads will include the B3135 taking drivers from Cheddar to Ashwick and a route from Forres to Alford.
Volkswagen UK Director, Alison Jones, said “Our GTI badge quite simply stands for driving joy. The three GTI models we offer today are among the most engaging cars available not just in the volume market but, in my view, at any price.
“Working with Waze, we wanted to offer more drivers the chance to get off the often congested ‘beaten track’ and instead experience the simple pleasure of driving once more.”
Waze’s Country Manager, Finlay Clark added to this by saying, “The Volkswagen Golf GTI is a genuine icon and now, with the new Volkswagen Polo GTI and superb Volkswagen Up! GTI, more drivers than ever can experience a truly great drive.”
If you want to experience VW’s GTI Superdrives, download the Waze app and look for GTI badges. If you are within 12 miles of a Superdrive, the technology will create a route toward it for you.
