Driving in the fog

If you are heading out in your car and there is fog around, it can be quite daunting. Unless you’re used to these conditions, they can feel very unfamiliar but, here are our tips for driving in the fog. 

Speed

Watch your speed and take your time, visibility is often dramatically decreased by fog so it is important that you approach driving in fog with caution. 

Lights

Turn on your fog lights and headlights to help you see clearer and further ahead. If you are not familiar with the lights in your car then it is best to check them out before you attempt to drive in the fog.

Distance

Keep an appropriate distance between you and the car in front of you so you have adequate stopping and braking distance. They will be going slower too so drive with care and consideration. 

Listen

Listen out to the sounds around you for traffic and such like. With visibility decreased it is important to make the most of your other senses.
