Top three picnic spots near Derby

If you are planning a road trip to coincide with some sunny weather, grab a picnic, grab a blanket and check out our favourite three picnic spots near our HQ in Derby.

First on the list is Dovedale. Infamous for its stepping stones and a gorgeous walk to go alongside it, it is lined with trees and plenty of spots to perch for a picnic. It can get quite busy on summer days or warmer days so keep this in mind and plan accordingly. If you are prepared for a little walk, you will no doubt find a spot that is secluded enough!

Next up we have Bakewell. A quaint village that is full of character — hello, Bakewell tart! This is perhaps more of a day trip spot than just a picnic as there is so much to look around and explore. The buildings are beautiful, the locals friendly and there are tonnes of shops to look in that will have you hunting for treasure. Aside from that, there are plenty of perfect places to picnic, as it is surrounded by rolling hills!

Last but not least we have Carsington Water. Picturesque and serene, you can plant yourself down next to the water for a bite and enjoy a stroll around. The walk is around three hours long so make sure you save some refreshments for on route! It is a working reservoir and is quite the sight to look at.
