Weird driving laws around the world

It may surprise you to know that every country has different driving laws, and some of them are seriously bizarre compared to what we’re used to in our country.

Here are just some of the strangest driving laws around the world.

Europe
1) In Moscow, driving a dirty car could see you get a fine
2) Even if you run out of fuel, it’s illegal to stop your car on the Autobahn in Germany, because of it not having a speed limit, which can make stopping incredibly dangerous.

3) In Scandinavian countries such as Iceland, it’s illegal to drive without your car's lights on, even if it’s daytime. The reasoning behind this weird driving law is to improve visibility for other drivers, and as a result road safety, because they have minimal daylight hours.

4) In Cyprus, it is illegal to eat or drink anything while driving.
5) You risk receiving a 200 euro fine if you drive in flip flops in Spain.

Asia
6) Due to the sheer amount of congestion on the roads in the Philippines, drivers are only allowed to drive on certain days, depending on the numbers on their registration plates. So for example, if your number plate ends with the numbers 1 or 2, you can’t legally drive between the hours of 7am and 7pm on a Monday.
7) Men in Thailand can be fined for driving without a shirt on
8) In Japan, it’s illegal to splash a pedestrian

USA
9) In California, it’s illegal to drive while wearing a dressing gown if you’re a woman.
10) You can legally turn right even when the traffic lights are red, as long as the coast is clear.
11) In Maine, it’s illegal to park within 25 feet of a Dunkin’ Donuts shop.
12) In Denver, Colorado, it’s illegal to drive a black car on Sundays.

Other parts of the world;
Africa

In the West African country of Niger, no one under the age of 23 is allowed to drive.
However…
It's ok to drink and drive.

Australia
It’s illegal for you to stick your arms out of the car in Australia, and you could be fined, unless you’re signalling to other drivers.

Do you have any other weird driving laws you know of that we’ve missed off the list?
